Kajian Historis-Kritis tentang Teokrasi di Indonesia

William Wahyu Sembiring

Abstract

This article aims to show and examine the theocratic government systems that have taken place in various regions, places, and times in the world. With a qualitative research method based on a historical-critical approach, it will be shown how the theocratic system actually works in an area. Based on the results of the existing explanations, a conclusion was drawn that the theocratic government system was inappropriate and irrelevant to be implemented in Indonesia. This is because theocratic values that require one religion to be the center of state life cannot be used in a pluralistic Indonesian society. Although the call to form a theocratic state of Indonesia is ringing quite loudly today from a small group of people, the basic nature of theocracy is very unacceptable in the territory of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia which is based on democracy.
